Terms of Use

These Terms govern your use of subconsciousalchemist.com and the free resources offered through it. Sessions are booked and paid for separately and are governed by the client agreement you sign before your first session.

Who you are dealing with

This website is operated by [CAT’S FULL LEGAL NAME as it appears on her Colorado trade-name filing], an individual doing business as Subconscious Alchemist, a sole proprietorship based in Colorado, United States. Post can be sent to [MAILING ADDRESS — use a USPS PO Box or a CMRA mailbox, NOT her home address] and email to cat@subconsciousalchemist.com. In these Terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean her, and “you” means anyone who uses this website.

By using this website you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

What this work is, and what it is not

Subconscious Alchemist offers coaching and mind-body and energetic practices intended to support self-awareness, self-regulation and personal growth. Cat draws on training in Internal Family Systems-informed work, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Brainspotting, Psych-K, Ho’oponopono, Family Constellations, intuitive energy work and coaching. Her training and the years completed are listed on the website.

This work does not include, and must not be understood as:

  • medical or psychological diagnosis of any condition;
  • medical, psychiatric, psychological or psychotherapeutic treatment;
  • prescribing, adjusting or advising on medication;
  • advice to begin, change, delay or stop any care you receive from a licensed provider;
  • crisis, emergency or urgent care of any kind.

We recommend that you discuss anything you take from this work with your primary care physician or another board-certified physician, and that you remain under the care of your existing providers. Nothing here is a substitute for licensed medical or mental-health care.

Professional liability insurance: [PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE — carrier and cover, or “none”].

Communications with Cat are not protected by any legal privilege. Privilege attaches to licensed professionals, and she is not one. She keeps your information confidential as described in the Privacy Policy, but confidentiality is not the same as privilege, and it is subject to the limits described there and in your client agreement.

If you are in crisis

If you are in danger, or you are thinking about harming yourself or someone else, please contact emergency services now:

  • United States — call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or call 911.
  • United Kingdom and Ireland — call 116 123 (Samaritans), or call 999 / 112.
  • European Union — call 112.
  • Anywhere else — contact your local emergency number or nearest emergency department.

We may decline to begin, or may end, a working relationship where what someone needs falls outside what this work can responsibly offer, and we may suggest they seek licensed care instead.

No guarantee of results

We do not promise any particular outcome. Nothing on this website — including anything said in articles, videos, podcast episodes, downloads or client stories — is a promise, guarantee or prediction that you will experience any specific result, in any particular timeframe, or at all.

Client stories published on this site describe individual experiences. They are shared with the permission of the people who gave them. They are not representative of what anyone else should expect, and they are not evidence that this work produces any particular result.

What you get out of this work depends on many things outside our control, including your circumstances, your history, your health, and what you choose to do.

What you are agreeing to accept

Work that involves emotion, memory and the nervous system can be uncomfortable, and sometimes intensely so. By taking part, you accept that you may experience any of the following, during a session or afterwards:

  • strong emotional release, including grief, anger, fear or shame;
  • a temporary increase in distress, anxiety or low mood;
  • difficult memories or material surfacing, including material you did not expect;
  • physical sensations such as shaking, tears, nausea, heat, cold or fatigue;
  • tiredness, disorientation or difficulty concentrating afterwards;
  • changes in how you see your relationships, work or life circumstances.

You accept these risks voluntarily. If any of them would be unsafe for you, this work is not appropriate and you should speak to a licensed provider instead.

Articles, downloads, podcast and videos

The blog, podcast, videos, book list, meditations and free PDFs on this site are general information. They are not advice, and they are not tailored to you or to your situation.

Reading, downloading, watching or listening to anything here does not create a client relationship between you and Cat Gelinas, and does not put her under any duty of care to you.

Books listed on this site are recommendations only. We are not affiliated with their authors or publishers, and we do not earn anything from them.

Booking, payment and cancellation

Sessions are booked and paid for through Acuity Scheduling, a third-party service. Their terms and privacy policy apply to what happens there, and we have no control over that service.

Prices are in US dollars and are shown before you book. Your specific cancellation, rescheduling, no-show and refund terms are set out in the client agreement you accept when you book, and those terms govern.

Our content, and what you may do with it

Everything on this website — text, articles, photographs, guided meditations and their scripts, PDFs, podcast episodes, video, layout and design — belongs to us or to our licensors, and is protected by copyright and other laws.

Free downloads are provided under a limited, personal, non-commercial, non-transferable licence that we may withdraw. Downloading something does not transfer ownership of it.

You may not:

  • republish, resell, sublicense or redistribute our content, or post it to any other platform;
  • use our content in your own practice, teaching or client work;
  • create derivative works from it;
  • record a session, or reproduce anything from one, without our written consent;
  • scrape, crawl, bulk-download or access the site by automated means;
  • use our content to train, fine-tune or evaluate any machine-learning or artificial-intelligence system. We expressly reserve all rights of text and data mining, including for the purposes of Article 4(3) of Directive (EU) 2019/790;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, or interfere with its operation;
  • use the site unlawfully, or to harass or impersonate anyone.

Modality names such as Internal Family Systems, Brainspotting and Psych-K belong to their respective owners and are used here to describe training Cat has completed.

Limits on our responsibility

This website and its content are provided “as is”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind about the site or its content, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or uninterrupted availability.

Sessions are delivered online. We are not responsible for failures of internet connections, video platforms, scheduling software or other services we do not control, or for anything that follows from them.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunity or lost data, arising from your use of this website or its content. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the site or its content, or your failure to give us accurate and complete information about your health where you have been asked for it.

If something goes wrong

Please contact us first at cat@subconsciousalchemist.com. We ask that you give us 30 days to try to resolve the matter informally before starting any formal proceedings, and we will do the same.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts of Colorado will have jurisdiction. Either of us may still bring a claim in small claims court.

If you are a consumer resident in the EU or the UK, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory rules of your own country, and you may be entitled to bring proceedings in your local courts.

General

You must be at least 18 to book a session or submit a form on this site.

We may update these Terms. The effective date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing something on one occasion does not waive it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any client agreement you sign, are the whole agreement between us.

Links to other websites are provided for convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices.
